The Skinny
In order to represent over population, Ants will be my medium. I have ordered 500 carpenter ants from www.ants.com which will be arriving this coming Friday. This means that I need to start building my ant farms, otherwise they will escape and rampage our house. For this I would appreciate your input.
I plan to use the vacuum former in my school’s woodshop to create a dome-like form. The large white form on the attached picture will serve as the base, and I plan to shape a dome from foam and vacuum form the shape to serve as the top of the dome.
More later.

This is the process in which mycrobial mushrooms grow, spore and reproduce in just a few days.
I plan to embrace the rapid expansion of the mushroom to simulate the rapid expansion of our planet today.
TIME LAPSE OF MOLD AND MUSHROOMS
The organic forms shaped by the natural growth of the mushrooms is cool.
This pays testament to the concept that there are millions of species of mushroom world wide. Given the unique nature of mushrooms grown in each country, an examination of specied grown together (or not) as explained and explored by mycologist Paul Stamets, could give an interesting window to the contrast in species worldwide.
Mushroom Life
This generated image illustrates the process in which mushrooms spore and reproduce. On a very basic plane, you click where you want a mushroom to “grow” and based on an algorithm created by parsons student John Conway, the mushrooms will reproduce and grow.
The program demonstrates that for each generation:
A mushroom with 1 or 0 neighbours dies from “loneliness”
A mushroom with 4 or more neighbors dies will die from over crowding.
A mushroom with 2 or 3 neighbors will survive because of the stability.
And an empty space with 3 neighbors sprouts a new mushroom.
